Research and Development

Anderson Manufacturing welcomes the challenge of a conversion from manufacture by screw machine to cold heading. We are pleased to study each opportunity and offer a more economical solution when cold heading offers an advantage over traditional machining technology. In many cases, actual production is the best determinate for cold heading feasibility. Therefore, we generally quote a tooling fee that will often be credited to the customer in the event that a production order is placed.

Quality

Anderson Manufacturing knows how critical it is for our customers to receive high quality parts, on time. Our consistent high quality and service has been rewarded in the form of numerous "preferred supplier" awards from a variety of our customers.

Anderson Manufacturing makes extensive use of in-line process monitors. These monitors effectively detect short feeds, blanks and tooling "crashes", which occur occasionally, and will automatically shut the header off.

In addition, with many high volume production runs, we utilize in-house automatic sorting equipment. This specialized equipment enables us to consistently provide our customers with higher manufacturing efficiencies resulting in less down time and lower costs.

Tooling

Anderson Manufacturing takes pride in its ability to manufacture complex cold headed products. Skilled craftsmen and advanced tooling design and required to produce these complex components. Anderson Manufacturing designs, develops, and produces approximately 98% of our own tooling, in-house. When designing the tooling, careful consideration is given to die wear and dimensional repeatability assuring that the final component meets the required tolerances.

Custom Cold Heading

Anderson Manufacturing does not typically stock standard parts. Each component is considered unique and is carefully produced in accordance with each customer's specifications. This highly individualized system allows Anderson Manufacturing to customize each and every component. When a crisis situation arises, whether it is a standard solid or semi tubular rivet or some other component, we are able to cross reference the applicable dimensions and specifications using our computer data base. We are often able to offer a substitute part from our broad product line in order to help our customers through a crisis situation.
